So what is a heat load calculation?

The answer is here (part of the homeowner's FAQ).

  1. Heat loss calculation is a load calculation of the transfer of heat loss or gain through your buildings insulation. There are many ways used for years but I would only recomend ACCA Manual J protocol. With our unique, more energy efficient building practices and code submittals using Manual J worksheets should be computerized. Some projects would take too much time even for some of the best in the industry. Two software programs that I would suggest would be Wrightsoft or Elite by an experienced proffesional. Hope this helps.
